David is campaigning for two new bridges in Warrington to help ease the traffic problems which blight our town
David led calls for a new bridge to be a part of the Local Growth Deal which reflects all the top infrastructure projects in Cheshire and Warrington.
The Conservative-led Government agreed and have allocated funding for a new bridge which will link Chester Road with Bank Quay station across the River Mersey. Traffic using the bridge will now be able to travel between the south and west of the Borough without using Warrington’s most notorious pinchpoint – Bridgefoot roundabout.
Construction of the new bridge has already started and is due to be completed in 2018.
David has lobbied the Government for a new high level crossing over the Manchester Ship Canal, linking the A56 at Moore with the A57 at Great Sankey. The Government is interested in this proposal and is looking for ways of funding it after David raised the subject at PMQs.
The Government has now put forward a funding package for the bridge to move forward.
