In Parliament

My job is to represent Warrington South in Parliament to the best of my ability. I do this by making contributions in debates on issues which affect Warrington and by tabling questions to Ministers.

It's also important to me that I am honest, open and transparent about every penny I claim from the taxpayer in expenses. I pledged, before I was elected, that I would publish details of every claim I made and you can view those claims here.

The non-partisan website theyworkforyou.com tracksĀ MPs' contributions. You can sign up for a free email alert every time I speak or ask a question in Parliament by clicking here

Pharmacy Cuts- Hughes Pharmacy 158 Knutsford Rd Grappenhall Warrington

I am a pharmacist owner and have been involved in running a community pharmacies for past 38 years and feel the pharmacy cuts proposed by government ,needs careful evaluation , particularly the hub and spoke model which are totally flawed and have not been thought through regards the patient care especially the elderly who are totally reliable on their local pharmacy for personal care and familiarity. The proposals will destroy pharmacy as profession and cause massive employment of our trained staff and trained pharmacists due to the proposed closure of around 3000 pharmacies. It will also have impact on the drug supply chain as the amount of buffer stock in the supply chain will be greatly reduced leading to shortages and patient care. Pharmacy need to evolve and we have always engaged with the governments in the past to deliver the targets and greater use of pharmacies must me made to reduce the hospital attendances in the AE departments and reduce drug wastage by reducing the period times to 2 weeks for certain classes of drugs where wastage is identified.(certain analgesics /laxatives.). Cost savings can also made by having a robust pricing policies and any abuses by manufacturers are tackled and prevent a monopoly of the market. I hope you will help us in conveying the message to the Health Minister that these cuts are not justifiable for the pharmacy profession to survive as Pharmacies have very good negotiators in keeping the drug prices down for the benefit of the tax payer. I would be willing to attend your surgery for further clarifications.
    Yours sincerely,
